My Success on a Remote Team:  Tara’s Story

“I’ve ended up with lateral moves, in sectors I didn’t love, just because it’s what was available in our new city at the time. Now my job (that I love) through Instant Teams can come with me wherever we go, as long as I have my computer.”

One of the greatest things about military spouses in the workplace is our ability to be flexible and agile movement. We are used to uprooting our personal lives every few years (or less) to move somewhere that we’ve likely not chosen, and may never have even been to. In my experience, this easily translates to success in a virtual work environment.

I’ve had a great experience with Instant Teams (previously known as MadSkills). I first heard of the position with the company I’m now with through another military spouse organization, and applied through Instant Teams. The application was user friendly and easy, and the Instant Teams onboarding team has been great.

Finding a virtual job was important to me because I am sick of needing to change jobs every time my husband has to PCS. I’ve ended up with lateral moves, in sectors I didn’t love, just because it’s what was available in our new city at the time. Now my job (that I love) can come with me wherever we go, as long as I have my computer.

I would tell companies to hire military spouses for virtual teams! Military spouses like to get things done. We’re hard workers and we really appreciate the ability to take our jobs with us.
